Protea Dekor is a full-service interior design boutique located in Ridgeland, MS. We are experienced in working with a variety of customer design preferences – whether traditional, eclectic, transitional or contemporary.
We can develop a design plan from start to finish and implement it; or develop a plan for the customer who likes to “do it yourself” We can start from scratch or use the customer’s current décor and add pieces to add new interest.
Meet Our Design Team
Karen de Kock, Owner
Karen is an Air Force brat who grew up all over the country but settled in the Jackson area and calls it home. She attended Mississippi State University, earning a degree in Broadcast Journalism. After working in that field for almost 20 years as a News Anchor/Reporter at WCBI-TV in Columbus, News Anchor at WAPT in Jackson, co-host of Mississippi Educational Broadcasting’s statewide “Mississippi Outdoors” program and morning show personality at WTYX/Arrow 94 in Jackson, she decided to turn off her microphone and pursue her other passion, Interior Design. After returning to school for interior decorating, Karen opened Protea Dekor in April 2005. Karen has written about interior design for many area publications and has been asked to judge many area events that feature interior design. Karen is married to Stephen de Kock, a business banker with Community Trust Bank and they have one dog, Newman — who you may just find hanging out around the store.
Mallory Stipe, Designer
Mallory Stipe has always had a passion and appreciation for beautiful and unique design. So it was no surprise that she followed that passion to Mississippi State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. Mallory has worked for F.A. Hunter and Associates on several hotel projects including: Macon Marriott, Hotel Indigo Midtown, Hotel Indigo College Park, Cabot Lodge and Plantation Renaissance in Atlanta. Mallory started working at Protea Dekor in December 2009. Most recently, Mallory has served as a judge for the Home Builder Association of Jackson's Parade of Homes in the 2011 Spring and Fall tours. Mallory has a true gift as a designer and enjoys working with people closely to pair design with the specific taste of each individual client.
Rebecca McDuffie Hall, Designer
Rebecca has been an interior design consultant with Protea Dekor for 3.5 years. With a B.A. in Interior Design from Mississippi College, she does in-store as well as outside consulting for commercial and residential design. From space planning to providing clients with options in flooring, lighting, furniture and wall coverings, Protea Dekor is your complete interior design destination. A lifelong resident of Jackson, Rebecca is married to Ryan Hall. The couple recently had their first child, a baby daughter named Zoe. The Halls also parent two yorkies.
